POCO might be gearing up to welcome a new model in the brand’s affordable C-series lineup. POCO India’s Twitter handle has started teasing a new phone, which is claimed to deliver “Speed and swag.” The handset in question is the POCO C55. The short video clip posted on Twitter just has the marketing name but nothing about the design. Like the other C-series models, we can speculate the POCO C55 will be a budget offering. Coincidentally, noted leakster Yogesh Brar has shared a live image of a POCO phone on Twitter.
While the leakster hasn’t mentioned anything about the phone’s hardware specifications or the marketing name, we believe it could be the POCO C55. The handset has a faux leather finish on the back panel and a large Black camera island, which houses dual cameras, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor for security.
Is POCO C55 a rebrand?
The design of the POCO C55 seems strikingly similar to that of the Redmi 12C so there are chances that the phone could be a rebrand. Redmi 12C debuted earlier this year in China. If true, we already know its specifications. The Redmi 12C has a 6.71-inch HD+ display with a 20.6:9 aspect ratio and 500 nits of peak brightness. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC coupled with up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB storage.
Moving to optics, the POCO C55 has dual cameras on the back, with a 50MP primary camera sensor and a 2MP depth shooter. There is a 5MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone runs on Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.
The Redmi 12C houses a 5,000mAh battery that comes with a 10W charging adapter. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS + GLONASS, and a microUSB port. We should learn more details about the phone soon.
